CANVAS AND LIGHT TIPIS / AUTUMN OPEN DAY

Here’s a little insight into our Tipi Open Day a couple of weekends ago at the gorgeous woodland wedding venue at Umberslade Adventure. The whole week was glorious and sunny so it was a bit disappointing to wake on the Sunday to torrential rain. Still the rain didn’t keep couples away and many people said at least they were seeing the worse case scenario and our cream tipis made a gorgeous place to shelter, while still being able to take in the lovely woodland views.

Our cream tipis would make for a wow-factor guaranteed wedding, whatever the weather. Our Stratus (giant hats) and Cirrus (chill out tipi) can be linked to create a space suitable for guest numbers from 30 to 200. The cream canvas gives a lovely quality of light which can be seen in the pictures below.

The models and hair and make up artist had an early start and the girls changed into their beautiful sample dresses from Boho Bride.

Umberslade has a gorgeous blessing site, just a couple of minutes walk from the main tipi/marquee space and here are some gorgeous shots captured by Just Jodie Photography.

Back over in the tipis, suppliers were busy setting up and we were adding the final finishing touches. We’d opted for a two stratus (giant hat) and one cirrus (chill out tipi) set up. With one tipi dedicated to dining, one for dancing with our grey oak dance floor and extra large mirrorball and the cirrus on one end, providing a great space for our indoor fire pit and Umberslade’s rustic wooden bar.

We were surrounded by ferns, so I wanted to make these a feature in the styling. I spray painted some ferns copper and created a large hanging feature, using one of our floral hoops. I also continued with the copper and foliage vibes with copper hoops, ferns and lace ribbons, along with my home made dream catcher (I had planned to make many more, but there are never enough hours in the day). It’s a great idea to make use of what you can find in nature. The styling elements came to about £50!

Lighting wise we stayed away from brighter spotlights and went for more atmospheric lighting with antique pendants fixed to the pole between the two stratus tipis. I dressed this with more ferns to cover the cabling. We wrapped warm fairy lights around the poles also hung little glass votives with tea lights (thanks to Emma of Umberslade for these :))

When it wasn’t raining, couples were able to duck outside and pay Taxi Snaps a little visit and have a play of some of the traditional English games that can be hired from Umberslade.

It was a grey day and Jodie was able to capture some great moody, autumnal imagery, but just check out the colours in all the floristry work by Celia of You, Me and Mrytle. I asked her to explain in a bit more detail her flower inspiration.

“I adore working with Enchanted Woodland Weddings, one of my favourite venues as the natural environment lends itself to beautiful flowers and suits my preferred more natural style. I was therefore really happy to be invited again to style the fabulous tipis provided by Canvas & Light for their autumn wedding fair. I decided to use an autumnal palette of colours for dressing the top table and the draped bouquet as I believe it’s important to work with seasonal flowers as much as possible. I also prepared a foliage bouquet to show how sometimes the simplest of designs can be equally stunning. As I love making flower crowns it was a given that I’d make complimentary ones for the day to showcase ideas for brides looking for something a little different for themselves or their maids'“
